An Easy To Use Guide To Planning Your Birth Plan

One of the most important parts of thinking about and planning a birth for many women is the birth plan - a list of what you want to have happen, what you don't want to have happen, what you consent to and don't consent to, what is negotiable as the need arises and what your back up plans are when things don't go to plan and extra help or assistance is needed in order for you to birth safely.
This planning guide was made to help a doula client put her birth plan in order when she was having some difficulty in deciding how to set it out and what to list on it.
Using this guide can help you figure out what you consent to, what you don't consent to, what is negotiable for you and what isn't negotiable for your individual birth, as well as helping with planning sections for a back up or alternative plan, medications that you do or do not want or are negotiable about and includes a section where you can outline each of your choices and why you have chosen those particular options to help you decide what it is that you really want.
I hope this planning guide is helpful to you and will assist in making your birth an empowering experience.

My Birth Plan... (what I would like to have happen)

Negotiable Birth Options... (what I am willing to negotiate about)

Non-Negotiable Birth Options... (what is not to happen without my consent and are currently non-negotiable)

In the event that it becomes necessary for my non-negotiable birth options to be changed I request... (what you wish to have happen if your non-negotiable options must be changed)

For the 3rd stage (delivery of the placenta) I request...

Acceptable Medications...

Negotiable Medications...

Non-Negotiable Medications...

Acceptable Interventions...

Negotiable Interventions...

Non-Negotiable Interventions...

In the event that a non-negotiable intervention or medication becomes necessary I request...

In the event that mine or my babies status changes the following is non-negotiable and I request...

In the event that an induction becomes necessary I request...

In the event that a caesarean becomes necessary I request...
