It’s that time of year again – Christmas and the New Years Eve are coming up quickly and will be upon us before we know it, and then it will be 2018 and a whole new year to get through hopefully somewhat sane, happy and healthy (and still in one piece!) and full of love and joy by the end of it.
To recap these past 12 months: it has been a relatively quiet year for me with only a few encapsulation clients, attending two births (one of them a third time client!), last month I started a new short course and began keeping a journal, this month I had a minor surgery and I started yet another short course (yes I’m a sucker for punishment, but both courses were free and include a lot of mindset things for my own self development and business development so it’s worth it the extra work load), lastly I finally bit the bullet and got a domain name registration for FOOTPRINTS & RAINBOWS, it took nearly 6 years but I’ve done it now and won’t have to do it again until December 2019.
What is coming up next year? 2018 is going to be the year of new beginnings for many of us, myself included!
First of all, next year my youngest child starts school! I am very excited and also a little bit sad because my “baby” girl is growing up far too fast and I miss the little snuggly baby that she used to be.
BUT... That also means that I can take on more clients in 2018 and work more closely with my clients in person as I won’t have to worry about arranging childcare – a win-win for me and all of my current and future clients!
I still have one more surgery to get through and then it will be all over and done with, my fingers and toes are crossed that there won't be any more surgeries for many years to come! This surgery will only keep me away from physical work for approximately 2 weeks and will not, thankfully, take me away from being able to provide support to my clients.
I am also intending on starting another THREE courses in 2018 – a postpartum support course, a childbirth education course and a breastfeeding counselling course. The end goal is to be able to provide a combination of childbirth education, prenatal support, birth support, (and if desired) extended postpartum support (including cooking, cleaning and overnight help with baby so my clients can get some sleep!) and breastfeeding counselling support - for those who decide to breastfeed - to all of my clients. It will mean some new packages and price changes after I begin the courses later next year, but it will be worth it to my future clients to be able to access it all in one place.
Other than that I will be devoting some personal time over the year to self care – because sometimes I forget to take time for it and get caught up in all the minutiae of daily life. It is super important to practice some form of self care (involving something that you enjoy doing) to reduce stress, improve mental and emotional health and prevent burn out and mental/emotional break downs. If you don’t already practice it I highly recommend that you start, even if it is only for 5 minutes each day.
There will also likely be much wine (when I am not working with clients of course!) and chocolate consumed during the next year too.
Sooooo, without further ado – I wish all of my past, present and future clients a VERY MERRY Christmas, and a WONDERFUL, EMPOWERING and ENJOYABLE New Year ahead!
