IT'S NOW HERE!
The “What Do You Want From Your Birth?” course!
What Do You Want From Your Birth? is a 10 day self paced online course designed to help you figure out what you want from, and for, your birth.
We will be covering everything from what you currently see your birth being like, to what your ideal “dream” birth would be like, to your personal “worst case” scenarios and how you can work through them and what kind of supports you would need to have in place to make them not so scary/worrying. We will also look deeply into your feelings, your thoughts and your emotions and how they could be affecting you now, and during your upcoming birth, and how you can make them work for you to make your birth experience better, even when things don’t go to plan.
Most of us have heard the negative stories - where the birth plan was ignored, or laughed at, or someone was told by a care provider that what they wanted to have happen was unrealistic, or didn't match hospital policy or a care providers preferences and needed to be changed (yes, I know, that is completely wrong since it IS the woman's birth and not a care providers birth!) - and it might be worrying you that you could be stepping on your care providers toes, or making them angry, by saying that you want one specific thing.

And I get it, I really do.
I have been in your shoes myself, pregnant, planning my birth, knowing that I want something specific to happen but not sure how to go about getting it or who to ask to help me, or even if my care provider would accept it.
I have been the mother with a basic birth plan written in the booklet that the hospital gave me that wasn’t “accepted” and was laughed at and later thrown on the floor to be trampled on while I was in labour – apparently wanting delayed cord clamping and a physiological third stage for the placenta wasn’t “kosher” at my then local regional hospital back in mid 2012! And I of course didn’t know much better back then, being a very newly studying doula and only relatively recently having been introduced to the concept of birth plans and that I could make my own choices in childbirth even if they didn’t match with the hospitals policies.
I have been, figuratively speaking, in your shoes and have experienced the same sorts of difficulties that you might be facing right now. I have been unsure. I have felt like my choices weren’t really choices at all. And I have managed to overcome many fears, uncertainties and worries along the way.
And now, now that my childbearing days are over, it is my turn to help others who are going through the same things.
And I want to help you overcome your fears, worries and uncertainties, and to help you plan your best birth possible regardless of what happens.
Because your birth, and how you experience it, is important – to you AND your family – and you need to be able to feel confident, content, and happy, with how it happens.

Your birth and your birth plan are important for you, as a mother, as a woman, as a birthing person.
It can be confusing, worrying, stressful, frustrating, exciting, crazy, overwhelming or overall amazing to think about it all.
You might be umming or aahing over what you want, or don’t want, over how to write out a birth plan that not only matches WHAT YOU WANT FROM YOUR BIRTH but is also easy to read and understand and will be respected by your care providers.
You may be looking at a blank page and thinking “What the fuck do I write?!?!”
Or you might have it written out already and be feeling like something is missing, or that it just isn’t quite right but you can’t put your finger on just what exactly isn’t right about it.
Your birth, and your birth plan, don’t have to be scary, or worrying, or hard to create, plan, get through. It doesn’t have to be stressful either.
Your birth plan can be as strict, as loose or as malleable as you want it to be.
As can your birth.
And you can change it, and change your mind, at any time as your circumstances change.
Or you can have multiple birth plans, or an all-inclusive birth plan going over every single thing that you want to have happen for every single scenario.
I created “What Do You Want From Your Birth?” to help you, and many others like you, to feel confident in your birthing choices by working through your thoughts, feelings and emotions in regards to your wishes and choices in a safe place, a place where you can do it at your own pace without any judgement and where you will be supported 100%.
This is not another birth plan template, there are literally DOZENS of birth plan templates out there on the internet, and you don’t need yet another one confusing you.
Anyone can use a template to write their birth plan, but you don’t always know what you want to write on it, or what is meant to be written on it, or even what you really want your birth plan to look like - this is where What Do You Want From Your Birth? comes in and helps you figure it all out.
Do you understand how you really feel about your birth?
Or know how a past birth experience can affect you during THIS BIRTH?
Knowledge is power, and when you know yourself you are in control of yourself. Knowing yourself involves knowing your individual triggers.
What pushes your buttons?
What negatively affects you?
What sends you into a spiral of worry or fear that leaves you unsure of your choices and decisions?
And how can you move past these things?
How can you make them not affect you or not be an issue for you?
How can you make them work FOR you?
The same applies to different birthing scenarios - what if your personal worst-case scenario happens?
How could you make it not be such a scary, worrying, fearful experience for you?
What supports would you need to put into place to help you through it? Now? Or even several months after it has occurred?
This course will give you the knowledge that you need to write your birth plan, and the confidence that you need to not only birth your baby on your terms but to also feel confident and birth in a way that leaves you feeling happy and content with what happened and what you did even if your first plans had to change.
At the end of these 10 days you will have the skills, and the plans in place, to make your birth experience one that occurs on your terms, even if they aren't what you originally planned for.
